Fusion is definitely coming, but not in the infinite fusion idea where you can fuse any pair together.
I imagine it'll be some storyline about scientists who fused very specific pokemon and those very specific fusions will be catchable in some endgame area, like paradoxmons

I think anon is saying that paradox pokemon and convergents (which are based on old pokemon but are new) should be considered New Pokemon in OP image.
Crossgen evolutions are similarly based on old pokemon but are new, and are counted as New Pokemon in the image.
Basically by counting the latter and not counting the former it makes things look worse.

Not quite fusion but I was thinking the other day I want something like convergent evolution. I like that Iron Valiant has bits of both Gardevoir and Gallade but I don't like the robot theme so I want a biological version of it. Then I thought what other Pokémon could get a similar treatment. Imagine a Bellossom with Vileplume's colouring, rafflesia and dead leaves. Or introducing that beta Scizor that looked more like Scyther. Or a Frosslass with more Glalie like features.

that's what I'm predicting. They say pokemon games always foreshadow things they'll be doing in future games, so I think Roaring Moon foreshadowed megas in ZA and Iron Valiant is foreshadowing the fused mons gimmick in gen 10

I wouldn't mind gigantamax coming back in a diluted form, like they're 1/3rd the size and their moves don't do extra damage but they have the Gmax effects. And only for mons that have a gigantamax forme.
Lorewise, something about you can carry a portion of ginganto-fumes to use wherever, but need to recharge it at a pokecenter.
I just miss G-Orbeetle, man
