>>58364621>The PWT is for casuals who are terrible at actual battle facilitiesNah, that's XY, where you can easily get runs in the thousands to the point barely anyone on Smogon does it. Compare that to the PWT where it's complex enough to be worth speedrunning at all.
>the obnoxious tutorials and excessive railroadingNah, most of that is done by the time you reach Castelia for the first time. Compare that to XY, where you're getting mandatory daycare tutorials on Route 7 on top of other cut-scenes, and you're an entire gym away from the second thing that could be reasonably considered truly optional if you're being generous (the other half of Connecting Cave), and the excessive railroading only stops after you unlock megas for some of the worst optional content in a Pokemon game (it's like if the left half of the ocean in Hoenn didn't have a dungeon and the Regi was post-game only). It barely gets better after that, with Lumiose being insanely underwhelming at best and annoying to navigate at worst with the godawful camera, while being the only town worth exploring at all while most previous game have at least two, a single optional route that's not super exciting aside from it being basically the only one, Lost Hotel which is the only interesting one, Terminus Cave which has a weird ass design decision of locking the last room to post-game making it disappointing no matter which time you visit, and rooms that are empty until post-game. It's shocking how much better Unova is for that sort of thing despite how linear the game is, you can at least go off the beaten track and find something at every stage of the game. You can't even say XY has a markedly better Pokemon variety for team building, B2W2 has a pretty similar amount of Pokemon and so many of the available Pokemon in XY encounter tables are filler. This is on top of actual difficult post-game battles which XY lacks, even in the Battle Maison as see above.
