Got the DS and 3DS at launch, both DSi models, even the GameBoy Micro, just for the hell of it. That was a cozy Pokemon machine.
Having a mainline game this soon into a new console's life is a nice change. Gen 7 had the worst timing, overshadowed by the Switch and Go. This release is a bit like BW and 3DS, but back then, playing on the shiny new toy meant the game had worse performance. DSi XL was the best Pokemon machine. It's nice having a linear upgrade with no drawbacks or compromises, apart from the battery life.
