We finally had a character that was trying to catch them all, but PoGo mechanics were shoe-horned in, meaning most of the time a Pokemon didn't have to be weakened to be caught. Also once caught, we didn't get to see the Pokemon very often, when really Goh should've had a rotating team, using them to catch new Pokemon, battle, compete in competitions and so on. Goh should've been challenging gym leaders and entering contests as part of his goal to better understand Pokemon so he could one day feel ready to meet and catch Mew. The world tour concept was perfect for this; Goh and Ash (as part of the PWC) could've been battling both familiar and new faces across the globe. That's just one of the aspects that would've made Goh, and Journeys in general, better. Project Mew was a mess too, but didn't have to be, and should've been a bigger part of the series with more episodes that tested Goh's character and trainer skills and showed off a wide variety of his Pokemon. Also, either the professor leading PM either needed to be working for Giovanni or an unknowing pawn of some evil organization, rather than the sloppy, half-baked finale we ultimately got. Another thing that needed to be fixed was avoid making Goh basically Ash 2.0; let them become friends but build on their different outlooks on Pokemon that was highlight in episode 3. Let them disagree with each other now and again so they could learn from each other, and allow the viewer to see the Pokemon world from more than one perspective. They had some great concepts with Journeys and Goh's character, possibly the best in the Pokemon anime, but fumbled everything about Journeys in the worst possible way imaginable.
