They're only expensive if you make them expensive. The only reason you'd need an authentic cartridge is if you planned to resell it at a later time. Just get a flashcart and play on your handhelds.

I'm trying to think of what the perks of original cartridges would actually BE at this point. All I can really think of transferring/interfacing with the N64 and Gamecube games, which is fair, but can also be done through emulation at this point. You should be able do link cable/local battles and connect to Battle Revolution with flash carts since those only require the game already be booted.

Supply and demand. It's really as simple as that. Most pokefags are nostalgic middle-aged fatmen that never looked after their possessions as kids, and are trying to recoup their lost childhoods as they have mid-life crises. One of the ways to do this is to buy things that they feel that they missed out on.

And so many people have lost or hoard their own Pokémon stuff now, that the few things that do go into circulation command a premium.

Nostalgia. But I'm not a retard that ever sold or threw away my games, so they represent hundreds of hours of playtime and enjoyment. Buying copies wouldn't be the same ot me

I just booted up my old Blue and Yellow versions on the back of your post, and I still have saves from 25 years ago that still work. My Silver save is dead as fuck.

They're in Asia/Japan mostly. Even better the latest reprints have all the content on cartridge despite what the package says(though not the 4.0 update that adds the Switch 2 compatibility)

Oh, I meant Scarlet and Violet have all the DLC on cartridge. Sword and Shield with DLC is back a few updates from the reprinted standard cartridges.

I'm still on the lookout for a Shining Pearl reprint with everything on cart (Brilliant Diamond has shown up several times)
