As much as I dislike Mega Gardevoir being Diantha's Ace, it is a much more impressive and relevant mon than most of the Dragons XY chose to have Megas, and while Garchomp could be thematically fitting that just runs into the problem of second champion running Garchomp. Tyrantrum is on Diantha's team too so it does work, though only as filler
What hurts Drasna specifically is the fact XY were build as the "Anti-Dragon" games thanks to introducing the Fairy type so it's not really friendly to her potential as a Champion. I love Drasna, always have since 2013, but the game is not stacked in her favor. It's a product of just how the game was intentionally designed this way
