No way man. Digimon are pretty cool to collect, satisfying too because of the requirements a lot of them have. Battles aren't as deep as Pokemon's but they're serviceable. I prefer Pokemon but you're being too harsh to Digimon.

he's probably refering to the DS games which were incredibly shit. Digimon is the exact opposite of pokemon's stagnation and is highly experimental with it's games and has had just as many shitters as it has good games if not more.

The new one is fine though. Nothing crazy like some they've tried, just a normal rpg with cool mons. Worth it if you like monster collectors imo.

That's what I've heard alot too
It's the raising/growth aspect that I enjoy the most from these kinda games
I had a lot a fun raising Chao back when in SonicAdventure2 and it feels like Digimon may scratch this itch perfectly

You'd probably like digimon world 1. It's alot different than the new ones and more akin to an open world tamagotchi. It can be obtuse and challenging if you go in completely blind but has alot of charm and I find it exciting to see what my dudes will evolve into rather than having full control. Maybe ask the digimon general over on /vg/ for some tips so you don't end up in numemon hell for the first 10 hours like we all did as kids.

Also god I miss chao world. That was peak sonic.
