>>58382056sun and moon has the better story in isolation. if BW and SM were movies SM would be the better one. but in the context of being a video game, SM’s story fucks up on a fundamental level because it fails to incorporate what the player is doing and wants to do. the player is always a passive observer to whatever Lillie or Hau or Gladion is doing, only stepping in to do battles for them. it feels like an obligation.
BW’s story is clumsy and you spend a lot of time listening to other characters talk, but you are undeniably a part of it. your goal of becoming the league champion is tied to team plasma by turning it into a race for the league, which makes for an extremely effective climax. it’s designed with the player in mind. so I would say BW has the better story.
