I'm glad he's gone. Should have happened over a decade already but when he's been there for so long it feels "weird" that he's not there anymore because of how "permanent" he felt.

Even after he became the fucking world champion they did their utmost to bring as little attention possible to it whatsoever.
It was just mentioned ONCE in one of those epilogue episodes, and like 10 seconds before the episode ended. Half of the time M8 kept presenting him as a literally who shitter instead of acknowledging him as the Alola Champion proper. Yes, meme league and all, but he's nominally the Champion anyway.
Even when they finally let Ash "win" they never let him "progress" or "be acknowledged" if you get what I am trying to say.
Could they have done that? Yes, obviously. But people were fucking sick of Ash already. They'd stretched him to the limit and well past that. Enough is enough. And even those stubborn Japanese boomers finally realized even if 10 years too late.
