>>58431861>>58431879The problem with ZA is that it doesn't really build on a lot of what arceus did best, instead taking the elements that people "wanted in a pokemon game" and completely reworking everything else. For example, I liked the ability of the open world to give you harder or easier routes through areas based on obstacles or strong wild pokemon blocking your way, and I loved the setting and tone and how it showed a lesser-known side of human/pokemon interactions. ZA kept the open world, but transplanted it into a less interesting setting, and divided it up into more claustrophobic areas that make alpha pokemon mostly annoying rather that something you can make informed decisions about. ZA's battle system is incredibly fun, and I'm so glad mega evolutions are back. I appreciate its increased emphasis on battling, and I like that the story involves more active characters, instead of it being mostly bad things happening to people for mysterious reasons. However, I still find myself missing the open roads of arceus, and the more interesting feeling of danger. The traversal in ZA isn't as interesting and the roadblocks feel less organic. I feel like I'm playing two halves of a 8 or 9 out of 10 game.
