Fast is good. Nobody wants to sit there for 40 turns seeing who hardens the most. Maybe boss encounters can get away with being longer, but only because they're the battle that equates to the culmination of your experience at that point, but anything that isn't pivotal to progression? Live fast die broke.

Most wild battles and trainer battles end in 2-3 attacks. Hell, half the time I get hit by a random move and it takes my Pokemon down by like 80%.

Speed has nothing to do with it, they simply aren't engaging. It's just cycling through your attack moves over and over even if they don't have a type advantage, because with the way cool down works, even a not very effective move is a way to turn idle time into minimal damage.

Kinda but Pokemon has always been like that where one move drains half,almost all or all of your health.

My issue is that when you use Pokemon who have ranged moves the combat is just fucking clunky and wonky. Environment items flat out BLOCK attacks and your Pokemon has to keep repositioning themselves. It makes me hate using Pokemon like Greninja or Delphox because not only do they have that going against them they also have long charge up times compared to Pokemon that can just spam the Punch moves

ok hear me out on these changes to improve the normal turn-based combat which is fucking old and outdated
>mons can have a fifth move that can only be activated once a gauge has been completely filled. the gauge partially fills by landing attacks or getting hit.
>action timeline, so instead of moving back and forth mons with much higher speed than the opponent might be able to act twice in a row. heavy moves like hyper beam can eat up future turns so you don't get to move next turn. some moves can manipulate the timeline to give you a second action in the future or delay the opponents turn until later so they can't act now but can act twice later, etc.

>trainer tactics which is a permanent swappable passive ability with a variety of different options that encourage creative playstyles and not just higher damage. you can only change your tactic out of combat. in battle it gives a small bonus similar to some held items but for all of your mons and represents a specific tactic used in battle. for example one might be fog tactics, which is that you train your mons to fight in fog and all of your mons have less bad accuracy than you normally would in foggy conditions, so now it becomes viable to use fog to obscure and make enemies more likely to miss but your own mons will hit.

it was a mistake to make the "higher level" moves like flamethrower just have more power and cooldown time. in the early game you have moves with low enough cooldowns that you can just rotate between them without using all of them, but as you get stronger shit you end up just sitting there twiddling your thumbs and using every attack you have just because there's nothing else to do.

Speed has plenty to do with it. The game has the same issue that regular Pokemon games do, where you just get a kill if you win the RPS matchup. Except now, you can end a battle before it even properly begins.

Kind of the problem with Palworld and ZA, unless you're directly controlling the monster itself, this real time stuff cannot be made into an engaging PvP set up. The Pokemon/Pals moving on their own, unable to dodge easy to see moves cause you can't control their exact movement just leads to unfun weirdness, least dealing with other humans.

The AI can barely pathfind to a spot where they can fire off their attack. I lost count of how many times my Pokemon was walking into a wall for 10 seconds trying to get into position before giving up and doing the attack where he was.

Digimon World did it best. Your digimon positions itself to where it thinks it's most advantageous and it depends a lot of it's intelligence, which was a stat you could level up and gave you access to actually using the moves by name.

The battle speed in PLA is perfect. It's not non-stop action that keeps you on edge, you get a second or two of downtime every now and then.

ZA may move a bit too fast, but holy fuck do they need to update the main series. Text boxes for absolutely everything, each individual hit of a multi-hit move, stat increases, stat decreases, crits/super effective, status effects ITS SO FUCKING SLOW.
The vast majority of that could literally just use a sound cue and a popup while an animation plays. I can't stand playing pokemon anymore it's just gotten worse about this with time.

I think someone mentioned it before and the thread, but a a Pokémon like Machamp who gets access to ice punch, fire punch, thunder punch they are all on extremely quick cooldown you could easily, and I mean easily just nuke down any Pokémon, regardless of resistance the amount of times you actually get those moves off it’s insane

when you use AI to generate an image you have a base model which is required and usually also one or multipole loras. a lora is kind of like modifiers to the base model that can be trained on anything from characters to poses, to concepts, to artist styles. in this case to replicate the specific style of an artist you would most likely need a lora trained on that artist. he probably also had a lora to get machamp right, or it's possible that since pokemon is so famous that the base model just knew it without needing a lora
