Battle zones and the "stealth" system are some of the most fucking miserable things to play in a videogame. Grinding points is gradually breaking me down, i'm a single thing happening away from just fucking calling it quits.

I just wanna say i really like the way the pokedex looks in this game, it makes me wanna collect every pokemon, but the best part is megas getting their own dex with icons that have their respective mega stone below, can’t wait to complete it and hopefully they’ll add the missing megas in the DLC

Once im done playing Z-A i’ll go back to my older games and catch every pokemon with a mega in their original region just so i can move them up to ZA when it becomes compatible with Home

Those are the things I didn't like. Outside of all those little things, the real time combat's fun and the game's got a lot of modern Pokemon conveniences that make playing it less of a chore. I really like how catching pokemon works in general, it's just so fucking quick and snappy compared to the turn based games. They also let me catch a Gengar so that was cool. I dunno what else to say, it had things that annoyed me but it was still fun and enjoyable. Kind of like every other Pokemon game.

Yeah I think they toned catching down in favour of battling a little too much in this game. I wish they kept in the LA style catching as well as making wild areas a little bigger. Wild Zone 6 is a good size though

They give a pittance of XP. Most of the time, they give you items, money, a small laugh, and also sometimes a new Pokemon.
I am also doing a lot of the sidequests as I can... and I AM overleveled by about 6 levels. Then again, I'm also destroying every Mega Crystal I can find, and my sidequesting has me running circles around the city sometimes mauling and/or catching stuff along the way. But sidequests won't make you LAUGHABLY overleveled. Some of my party members still actually faint even when faced with the NPCs' pkmn.

Does anyone know how to reliably get a 'new' Pokemon to spawn in a wild zone? I want to shiny hunt Absol. M-Maybe even the alpha one (though I found its location in the rentry). Is it as simple as whalloping the current one and coming back after some arbitrary period of time?
I got the Litleo Alpha to respawn after going into the building at one end of the park it spawns in and then coming back out. Does going into buildings in general re-roll the pkmn?

The one you revive can be Alpha, but its a low chance and saves immediately after you get it, so no Soft Reset. get a lot of money, back up your save, or use an infinite money cheat and buy hundreds of fossils.

Doublade does fine even without eviolite, eviolite just makes it better. The problem with aegislash is that it plays its swap animation every time it changes stance so it eats way more hits than it should.

Okay I like that its not a freebie and therefore technically worthless but how the fuck do I fish for a Shiny Mareep when only 2 spawn at a time?
How do I refresh spawns faster?
Arceus threw shinies at me like they were con merch, but 16 hours in I havent seen or heard a single one

I was hoping shiny hunting would be harder in this one and I wont be able to enjoy the laborious grind of doing so until I finish this fuckshitass quest

It has a bit of a slow startup but yeah

Dragon rush, bounce, heavy slam, and flying press also launch you high enough to dodge attacks but their animation is much shorter so the timing is tighter

Yes, flying back to the same area will reset everything inside the area, except shinies, those will persist. So people will keep flying to the same zone for like 10-60 minutes, check in side for any shinies, then repeat.

It will make a sound, but only if you're close. This is theorized to prevent you from hearing a shiny on the rooftop that you can't even reach yet. That's why people enter the areas every so often to check.

Two things bother me about the battle system in this game: not being able to roll while locked on and not being able to use moves unless targeting something. I understand why the second one is the way it is but it still feels clunky especially when you have AoE moves around your Pokemon that don't need a target.

At the end of the day it's just how I feel, I'd be fine if they made another PLA even if it wouldn't interest me personally since I know other people would like it a lot. I have 220 mons and I'm missing a few trade evos. I've found an alpha Machamp (Zone 20), Steelix (Zone 5 during a Mable's Xerneas sidequest) and a two Gengars (one during story and another one in Zone 20).
Does anyone know if Scizor, Slowking and Alakazam spawn as well?

Guys am I not playing the game right? Because catching Pokemon feels AWFUL in Z-A.
I have all three dolls that boost capture rate and I STILL can't catch anything.
Even when the chevrons ^ are at 3, the Pokemon breaks out the vast majority of the time.
In battle, you can only throw 3 Pokeballs before the wild Pokemon becomes resistant to them (X).
And if you reduce its HP to 0, you have only 1 chance to capture it. 1.
Why do we only get 4 total chances to capture a Pokemon when the odds already feel so low?
And again that is WITH the charms! Like am I missing something?
I've tried paralyzing with Thunder Wave, but I genuinely believe it doesn't impact capture rate.
What am I doing wrong here? What am I missing? Why does nothing stay in the ball?

I don't know, it seems to vary drastically between Pokemon, I don't know if maybe progressing through the game is giving a hidden boost. If there was a shiny or alpha you really wanted I could see it being frustrating I guess.

From my experience "expired" Pokémon (ie fainted, fled) can't be forced, you just need to wait real time, 5-10 minutes it feels like. Otherwise the Pokémon will be rerolled by fast traveling and walking back, have done that to get certain genders/sizes

Who do I put last? I've been rotating Tyrantrum and Excadrill.
I really wanna use more Kalos Pokemon but it's hard to find a good fit. Excadrill covers electric and fairy types pretty well... Tyrantrum is cooler.

Its still insane to me how anyone can think PLA was a good game when every moveset was exactly the same for every pokemon and there was virtually no battles to use the half baked battle system on.
In short, most of the complaints are from people mad that its not an open world game since the size of the zone is probably about twice as big as the size of one zone in PLA but way more labyrinthe like.
That being said, as someone who prefers turn based games this games battle system is not only new and a unique take that plays like old mmorpg pet jobs but it is far more interesting than PLAs slop turn based system. I absolutely hate anyone who praises PLAs battle system because coming from any traditional pokemon game would tell you how much it fucking sucks.

They should've done this more in the story honestly, multi-mon trainer fights were more common in PLA desoite that game having a fraction of the trainer fights
