I remember TPC being really unhappy when the Switch was launched. They asked Nintendo to make a different handheld console. Nintendo said, there will be no handheld console anymore.
So now Gamefreak is using all of their Pokemon budget to make games outside for Nintendo, kek.

The Pokémon engine is gonna be remade (as confirmed by the latest leaks) with features based on Unreal Engine, so they're gonna eventually settle to today standard.
