Correct, and if I might add, we shat on it at the time because Pokémon wasn't competing with rival AAA franchises, but the sooner we accept Pokémon is a AA videogame franchise, the sooner we can be more realistic about the kind of games we want.

i prefer the originals and the first remakes for the grit but honestly you can't go wrong with a Kanto game. Kanto is 3 for 3 so far.

You might know this but when people say no wild battles they just mean you can't 1v1 wild Pokemon with your own, instead you do a Pokemon Go style catching minigame. You still see wild Pokemon on the field, run into them to start the catching minigame and then get xp for your team after catching them. I think there was also a mechanic where you turned excess Pokemon into permanent stat up items.
