I haven't been able to force myself to keep playing my playthrough for days now. I think I'm on rank C. However I did play it on twitch plays pokemon all night the other night.

maybe its just cus the emulation being free and this good, but im somehow having fun. like i can feel how low effort the game is but the core gameplay loop of exploring for pokes during the day, battling at night, and hitting plot beats/mega hunts interspersed is fun for me.

So to get the greninja, you need to reach K rank in Ranked battles.
I just got the game and decided to try one online match and got fucked hard because everyone had fully evolved mega pokemon.

Do I have to decide between getting Greninja by rushing through the game and hoping I can reach K rank, or beating the game at a leisurely pace?

I bet some kid who can't read fights this npc over and over 1000 times not knowing they have to mega evolve. Also you can not mega evolve on purpose and 1 shot her over and over again if you want to over level your pokemon for whatever reason.

Is there any trick to catching Pokemon with low catch rates? Feels like even at low health, sometimes I just circle-strafe until the angry effect wears off, chuck 50 ultra balls, and pray something works before the fucking day-night cycle resets everything. Not very fun

i fee like im playing a different game than other people. i dont think ive found anything that took more than maybe 10 balls to catch, and even then probably just 5, and im nearing the completion of my dex and caught xerneas in a luxury ball.

start with a quick ball, if that doesnt work get it to low health and use ultra balls. i always let them hit me a few times before throwing another ball so they dont instantly go into rage mode. worst case scenario if i kill something i almost always get it with an ultra ball, barring a few alphas who just die and go away.

The funny part about the tutorial is that it's not actually that long but everyone are so ADHD brained trying to go off and explore/catch mons that they delay getting to the point where you're finally let off the leash.
