The white hand is just a spooky ghost, and with the old chateau things are alluded to, like the regional snack being from there and ghosts of a butler and little girl. Also fucking rotom comes from the old chateau. The old chateau feels like a haunted mansion that maybe made candy or something, or old gateaux were the favorite snack of the little girl. But in x and y you just get some fucking ghost walking up to you, talking to you and then leaving. "You're not the one" also implies there is someone, someone that you can find or maybe this is an event tied to your trainer ID or something, not just nothing. It'd be like if the ghost hand in RBY was described as reaching into your bag, you'd try to use every item you could to trigger something, or think it put something there.
