>>58474410Avoid SwSh, that's not only the worst Pokémon Switch game, it's the worst Pokémon game, period.
SV are pretty good imo. The Switch 2 upgrade fixed its most grating issue, namely the performance. It still looks kinda ugly, but it runs real smooth now. SVs strong suit is the story, it's definitely one of the best. The open world format is weird at first for an oldgen player, but it's actually pretty fun. Walking around finding new Pokémon is fun. It's still got the classical "to much empty space" problem of an open world game.
PLAs strengths are definitely the setting and the catching mechanics. It's still turn based combat with a little gimmick slapped in, nothing interesting. If you're really into combat and like fighting lots of trainers, it's not for you. If you like running around and catching mons, it's fantastic.
PLZA has a quite different, but pretty interesting battle system. I've been enjoying it, it makes even easy battles against mob trainers decently fun. That makes the campaign much better than in other mainline titles, in my opinion. It removes the slog of slow battles against trainers that never pose any remote threat. The catching is less interesting than in PLA, but more fun than in mainline games. There's tons of trainer battles and a lot of them are quite challenging. It's also full of charming sidequests, which I really like.
