Having a Professor that just doesn't give a fuck and isn't some sort of mentor and is actually just "look kid get your fucking work done" is great. Her design is good but doesn't go crazy for me, while Lida, Gwynn and Canari all have top tier designs.

Jacinthe really grow on me with time, I think her design fits her perfectly and that shot of her leaving the meeting room made her look like she has a comically fat ass which made her way hotter.

Honestly my fave is probably Canari. Lida might have won out if she did more in the story. Gwynn is cute as hell though.

I talked to the man that wanted a jumbo sized Magikarp and when the conversation ended, a shiny Magikarp spawned in the waterway right behind him. I had to check online to make sure that it wasn't a scripted event.

Quick question: I'm Alpha hunting a Riolu, and I'm at the ladder where one spawns on a rooftop.

I read you can (quickly) cycle the spawns by climbing up and down the ladder, but I just want to double check I'm not wasting my time when I can still hear the fucker when I finish climbing down the ladder.

Also, has anyone (organically) come across shinies? I think the only one I've caught outside of quests is a Fletchling.

Won't do the 1000 battle grind but doing the catch grind so I can have a Master ball when the Mewtwo event hits. Took me a bit to remember that the Repeat Ball exists.

I got a Weedle very early on, then a Pansear in a tree and a Magikarp in a little canal when I was going between Larvitar spawns looking for an alpha.

How the fuck are you people doing so many battles? I just got AZ's floette and I'm only at 531/1000 battles. Even with the ZA Royale I only hit around 20 battles a night, yet iveseen some people say they do 70.

Hoping you meant "more speed = less recharge". And because of how the combat works in this game speed is important but not nearly as important as it is in the turn-based games. A little bulk goes a long way here. You're guaranteed to take some hits no matter how fast you are.

I was averaging 30 battles per battle zone so it was +450 battles by the time I got to 15. There's 3 battle zones so you just fly between the 3 to reset the trainers fast.

Yes, and speaking from my own experience, you can get enough time to have up to 40 battles per night, you just have to be brutally efficient in your time allocation. Spend as little time as possible running around, if you're taking more than 10 seconds to find someone you need to warp to another zone. You might have to refresh your zones by benchsitting to cycle into the next day and next night if you've got zones with a lot of rooftop emphasis, they suck for grinding battles.
Battles pause the progression of time so focus on getting into them ASAP, even if it requires you to get jumped by an NPC since waiting on your mon to waddle up and sneak attack is an insidious time killer.

Ending spoilers question

Why did AZ just die off screen? I knew he wasn't well from coughing he did a few times but they didn't really put much significance to it. I guess as a story arc, he was only clinging to life so he could see his mistake he made long ago be ended. It seems very out of place that it cuts to his grave stone and it's like "surprise he's dead now" without much fanfare. It didn't feel like the story was building up to an event like that and it feels like his death was needless because of it.

Alphas are marked as XL in the size classification but I'm pretty sure Alphas are bigger than them, if the Magikarp sidequest is to be trusted. It specifically asks for one that's bigger than XL, and any Alpha Magikarp will work. Kinda weird Alphas aren't marked XXL or something to make them more distinct.

There's a free EV reset at rust syndicate.
Using power items and knowing which wild zones do farm what EVs at means takes like 5-10 minutes to fully EV train a pokemon.

Man Pinsir is really good in this game. I love his mega design, too. This is an alpha one, it does a ton of damage and they buffed lunge in this game to decrease the enemy’s attack so it can tank well too.

Like it or not, Alain as a character and the Mega Evolution Specials are canon to the gameverse thanks to ORAS, Steven directly mentions the events of the time he teamed up with Alain to battle Rayquaza.

That's entirely different. If they merged the Nidorans, the "OG 151" would stop being 151, and instead be 150, completely killing the marketability of the collective by betraying one of the most sacred rules of nostalgia.

I'm at Rank B in the story currently, will I just get demolished if I try to do online battles with my team at around level 70 and not perfectly maxed EV's. I'm kind of afraid to even try competitive with this janky ass battle system. Feels like the only stats that matter in this game are HP and Speed.

If you are that late into the story you may as well finish it out. Building competitive mons is easy after you finish the game

>any alpha you catch automatically has 3 perfect IVs and 252 HP EVs
>can buy vitamins from any pokecenter and money is easy to farm from the battle royale
The ONLY issue is bottle caps. You only get so many from missions and earning more is a horrid rng grindfest. When more tradebots become available it will be easy to get free golden bottle caps that way.

Okay cool, thanks for the advice all. Does strategy even matter at all in competitive, like using stat altering moves/status effects/trap moves or is it all just about whose attack can make the biggest number?

speed isn’t that great in online either, you’re not fighting training dummies; you’ll be moving around a lot waiting for opportunities and openings

There is surprisingly a lot of depth in it and the metagame is still developing each day.

People are actually discovering that a lot of weaker moves are extremely useful in pvp because of how much faster they come out compared to the big hard hitting moves. It doesn't matter how much damage a swords danced Mega Garchomp is about to do with it's Earthquake if it gets killed by a quick Ice Fang before it finishes casting.

idk how ‘it has formes’ is a counterargument at all, the formes are ostensibly based off size and these are the only pokemon to have formes based off size, so just tie the gimmick to the size system. this is not a hard concept to grasp, nobody is complaining that vivillon has a million formes based off game language despite all pokemon having a game language flag not just vivillon
