Is there anything I can do to try and get XS or at least S size Pokemon consistently? It feels utterly ridiculous that I reset a zone and get 3 fucking Alphas of the same Pokemon spawn at once but no smalls ever.

You hold onto it so you can then Mega Evolve it into Mega Lucario Z during the Mega Dimension campaign.
That's the clear intent behind giving you Korrina's Lucario despite the fact you can also catch Lucario from Zone 20.

Probably didn't want to give them too much fanfare and have people expecting them to Mega.
My understanding is GF doesn't want to give them anything until they eventually make an XY remake, which will probably also be the next time we see new megas after Mega Dimensions, probably a decade from now.

Only way to get them is Infinite Royale rewards, unfortunately. There'll probably be an easier method in the DLC, there's a lot of conveniences that are notably absent or in extremely limited/tedious quantity.

Made it to K rank using non min maxed Gardevior, Excadrill and Gyarados. Hell, I didn't even advance far enough into the game to be able to mega Excadrill but his drill attack destroys anything it's weak too.
Mainly got first and second place with one third place.
Overall, nice variety of pokemon online ATM.

OK I managed to 2v6 them by abusing plussed Giga Impact to oneshot them before most of them could do anything and swapping to the other Furfrou between every KO to skip Giga Impact's cooldown.

If you have a turbo controller, just stuff your team full of high-level fire types (that way you can't be burned by the Fire Trainer), equip them with Rocky Helmets, get the controller to turbo on A, and let the game run for the day while you do other shit, then when you come back tomorrow, you should've made considerable progress if not 1000 battles accomplished outright.
This unironically works, I used it to skip most of my final 500 battles so I could spare myself from the misery of the grind.

I'm just going around one shotting everything with dragonite at night and getting like 35 every night cycle because I don't know how to ideally route and it's only less painful because of how fucking silly the mechanics can get. Still need 250 more though.

The fastest one is restaurant le nah. It's 3 battles of level 30 Pokémon, which you can kill in about 30 seconds. You can AFK it if you have a turbo controller too, and you go money positive from it so it'll run indefinitely.

I've rested at bench about 50 times trying to get a S or XS Mawile and I've gotten none.
But in that same time I found a shiny and about 10 alphas (at one point all three Mawile were alpha at the same time).

This is stupid.

My man, just wait for the battle zone to spawn where the city council building is, warp there, and run around it while slamming out trainers

The route is quite simple, you walk in, go counterclockwise around the building until you hit the scaffolds, run down the back alleys to the staircases, then go up the ladder and do a few fights that drop you off back at the start

You can easily do 40+ battles like this, not even being optimal, and you get both a shitload of money and progress toward matches

I don't know why it didn't occur to me that I can just visit Quasartico in the middle of the night, do my challenger ticket and farm up another one sooner. Your Pokemon's HP even gets restored before and after the battle so it's even a convenient way to top up your party.

I was able to do 3 fights and get 3/5ths of the way to the fourth.

Anyone having any issues with certain moves or certain pokemon using certain moves?

So my starmie knows Surf, Ice Beam, and Power Gem. When it uses Ice Beam or Power Gem it will do the animation but will not actually shoot the beam out and does no damage. When it uses surf it will summon the wave, the wave will go like two or three inches and then vanish, again not doing any damage.

At first I thought it was stuff getting in the way, however I've used it in the middle of a street and it still does this. Anyone experience something similar to this?

It's am M size. I was thinking it could be a size thing too. I installed the 1.0.1 update and it seemed to stop.. Not sure. Something to keep an eye out for.

On a side note I hope they patch the bug where pokemon using range moves will move out of range of the attack to attack. Cannot tell you how many times i've seen my pyroar run to its range spot only for the flamethrower beam to not reach the target. This is unware out of combat targets mind you.

continue to farm mega shards, money and generic items to make more money, but more mega stones and complete maple's tasks, finally buy some fasion even through I like what the starter clothes represent, you're wearing your friends stuff, Naveen gave you the hat, Urbain gave you the jacket, I didn't get anything from Lida but that probably comes later.

I'm currently at the point where it wants me to fight Mega Slowbro and I don't feel confident that whichever one of my partners I choose can beat it yet, they're all rather big so they aren't as nimble as Lucario at dodging attacks and as far as I can remember the mega pokemon work like terrilization and dynamax raids where you have to utalize the gimmick yourself if you want to win.

Even if your preferred mons don't have Megas, you can still use Plus Moves to deal Mega-like damage, they'll just take up one chunk of your Mega Bar per move.

Don't initiate unless you can secure the kill in 2 (at worst 3) quick hits because someone will come and kill steal. Something like mach punch is good as a finisher.
If you see a 1v1, try to kill steal.
If you deal 3/4ths damage, they will switch out. Delay your attack or disengage.
Theres a lot of attacks that have long windups and obvious tells. You can switch or Mega evolve just before the attack is active to not take damage.
It's okay to just walk around and not attack. Try looking for openings.
These are just general tips. Team comp wise I was just messing around with jank which is why the last sentence is the most important. It probably too me longer than the average person to get to A.

Outside of balltism (I really think they should just let you change ball post capture, even if it's for a cost), I am ok with it, by end game I'd solved it by using quick balls from the back without being seen and in ideal controllable circumstances this gets you like 20% catch rate at worst, maybe a little less for alphas

Not really. I've hit the medal cap with 42 battles, in which I had 3 reward matches. Some bonus card payouts are pretty huge. The important thing is hitting the 3x multiplier, which is trivial.

This was literally one of the only interesting side quest battles in this entire game.

tl;dr - speed gives you a flat cooldown reduction that scales linearly to the speed stat, however there's a cooldown floor of 3 seconds, so you can't make a cooldown faster than that.

So, if you've got enough speed to reduce cooldowns by 4 seconds, it'll reduce ALL cooldowns, by 4 seconds, but you can't make a cooldown faster than 3 seconds.

I wouldn't say it's useless, it certainly makes high power, high cooldown moves more viable on faster Pokemon since you have the capacity to reduce their cooldown to something more reasonable. At high speed, it's easier to cycle between two STAB high power super effective moves without sacrificing downtime. However, in an online setting it's better to prioritise coverage.

What actually complicates things is that because you can't reduce activation and recovery times (besides using quick claw), hitting the cooldown floor won't be important for most moves since they take more than 3s to execute anyway.

In general though, I wouldn't bother investing into it. If the pokemon is naturally fast you can play into it, but in this game just putting EVs into HP + main attacking stat is a lot more reliable since it'll have more universal coverage for whatever you up come against.

there's like almost none of that. stuff like outrage and earthquake all reset fully by the time the next pokemon is sent out. the only shit that doesn't fully reset between kills is like giga impact and equivalent

Megas were a mistake. Theres not a single interesting design in za. Froslass loos like a gmax. There are like 4 good mega designs and the rest are bad.
Gardevoir, sceptile, mawile and banette. I can do without the first two if it means we never get megas. The last two shouldve been new evolutions.

Dragalge is my favorite of the new megas so I want to try to make a team built around one for online. What would be some good partners for it? I'm thinking of using Meganium since it can set screens and take care of the Grounds Dragalge fears, while Dragalge walls the Poisons that threaten Meganium, but I'm unsure who the third option should be. Skarm could be cool for a Steel/Fairy/Dragon core, but that also leaves two Fire weak pokemon, and from my online experience Emboar is a very common Pokemon. Plus Skarm is a bitch to catch.

What starter to pick for the in game battles? Leaning towards Totodile and doing a loose Dragon monotype run but I wonder if I will be fucked later in the game.
Heard good shit about Meganium but graas type is... weird. Emboar being slow and having 65 Defenses and Speed sucks donkey balls.

totodile is the best one but i think gyarados is still a better water-type. he does have 2 good water stabs as opposed to gyarados who can only use waterfall but gyarados has other things like bounce and stone edge

But it’s weird, Legends games are mainline games as shown by how they keep the same pokemon data structure and boxes and can connect to Home and pokemon can be transferred in and out, unlike spin-offs like PMD where stats and pokemon data work differently and will never be compatible with Home, Gamefreak already said as much too and all press releases call the Legends game part of the Pokemon series
It’s kind of like Xenoblade X where quite a few people call it a spin-off despite Nintendo and Monolith never ever referring to it as such and only calling it part of the Xenoblade series

Yeah, everything stems from completing Reward Matches.
Complete your first one and you'll be able to go after Xerneas and Yveltal, then return to Hotel Z after catching them to start the path to Zygarde.
Complete 15 and you'll finally reach the conclusion of the rival's story and get Eternal Floette in the process.
Complete 20 and you'll unlock the sidequest for Jacinthe's Super Tournament, where you literally battle her four times in a row with the exact same team, and then you can rebattle her anytime you want, which is actually a solid source of EXP and money if you need to powerlevel a mon up from low to high in a short time and don't have a stock of candies available.

I think I prefer right because it looks more clear. Left is a good but the sepia/orangeness is everywhere in the picture including you. Right I don't particularly like the tower's neon purple but it does look good in contrast to you.
I'd do a coinflip.
