It sold 12.5 million units and grossed 600 million, which puts it above the mass majority of Pokemon games sold, so I dunno what to tell ya. Seemed to have worked for the time.

It puts it above the retreads, the VC Gen 1+2 re-releases and FRLG. Everything else sold more than it - Yellow, HGSS, every new Gen pair, every Switch mid-Gen game (except L: Z-A, but let's be real, it likely won't finish below it), never mind the individual gross sales outpacing AC's end total.

The lower two put effort in, Pokémon didn't (a fucking game boy game presented on a SNES-tier console). kinda like how other studios put effort into building cities teens and adults can accept as realistic, while Game Freak don't need to do QUARTER the effort of building the city and still end up selling shitloads still today. Why are you getting so upset at me for AGREEING with you? My only point of real contension was that B/W2 doesn't really qualify as a retread like the other third games because it's a sequel, and the remakes don't count as mainline to me, which is why I said "technically".
