I mean it makes pretty good sense that either of these would be true. Korrina likely has multiple Riolu, Lucario, etc. and Calem/Serena would definitely leave their Pokemon in AZ's hands if they felt it would be better off after they departed Kalos for wherever assumedly. I don't really see the issue with this, at worst it's just Gamefreak forgetting tiny details and brushing it over as if it really matters in the end.
