Now that I'm done with the main story I can wholeheartedly say that this is my best pokemon experience since BW2. LZA is a genuinely fun game and it even managed to salvage the XY plot while giving it a proper closure. Also please tell me the battle system is here to stay, It'll be such a downer if we go back to turn based in gen 10.

With Champions coming there's a good chance they'll keep the active battle system with new games and let Champions be the turn based game.

There's no way in which they're ever dropping turn based from mainline imo. I'd be so surprised. Not impossible but I think it's very unlikely. They need to change mainline turnbased to be more like Legends Arceus though where it doesn't display every line of text for a stat drop or display the super effective text every time.

But in the teraleak they said that the mainline games are intended to be for everyone, the legends games are for the hardcore fans. Real time action goes against that imo

The leaks implied they're keeping mainline turn-based. Legends is for "gamers" and is supposed to be "skill-based" and "action-oriented" whereas mainline is for "everyone" and should be easy enough to be anyone's first Pokemon game. Sounds like they want to keep it turn-based to me. GF thinks real-time button mashing is "too hard" for little Timmy.

I'm not a gamer and I actually suck at RPGs but I had zero problem finishing the game despite coming in wary. The real time system didn't make battles more challenging, if anything they became easier with how forgiving NPC battles are and how you have infinite PP for healing moves.

It has more to do with just how ridiculously easy 99.9% of battles in the main games are. Legends has the boss fights that can instantly give you a loss if the trainer is taken out and it will probably happen at least once or twice. And even regular battles are less inherently one-sided, Arceus due to favoring revenge kills and ZA due to some moves being very hard if not impossible to dodge. No instant sweeping like you can almost always do in mainline.
