>Starts the series with Staryu, Starmie and Goldeen
>Goldeen can't fight at all outside of water so it's completely useless in 99% of the episodes
>Starmie only knows water gun and tackle, same moves as Staryu (but Staryu also knew Swift) so it's essentially just "Staryu but harder to draw". It barely had any screentime and was eventually dropped at the Cerulean gym.
>Later in the series Misty caught Horsea, who's got the same issue as Goldeen, it can't fight outside of water. Writers realized this mistake and had Misty drop it at the Cerulean gym alongside Starmie.
>Then Misty caught Psyduck, a comic relief pokémon who's useless 99% of the time.
DAMN
Staryu really hard carried Misty until her Poliwag evolved into Poliwhirl and became her new ace (and then Staryu pretty much disappeared and never got to be relevant again)
Writers really hated Misty
