You can break the lore like PokeMas and just have all the characters already be the way they are, nobody gives a shit, but who would give a shit about exploring a game without seeing characters like Misty, Steven, Cynthia, Blue, Silver, etc?
Like even if all the Pokemon were back, there's already plenty of Pokemon games you can play with all these Pokemon available to you. If something's missing, people are gonna cry foul. Even if the game is destined to sell a million copies anyway because of the brand, if it's inferior to someone's Gen III hack what's the point of even making the game in the first place? Why suggest anything this ambitious without wanting to put in an ounce of effort to make it work?
At least Legends Galar will have low expectations because the bar was already set on the floor. All-Japan is the last opportunity to really please oldfags and impress the world, not just appeal to the sad millennial fanbase who sold their souls to this franchise
