I wouldn't really say XY was the peak.
Feels like it was missing out on some content towards the end.
I do like the new features added, like Hyper Training, Amie, Hoard battles, Berry farm system, skates > bike, and customization.
It was the first time they went full 3D, I was expecting a dex cut, the fact they managed get every pokemon in is impressive, it couldn't have been easy trying to juggle all of this plus adding triple, rotation battles, so it lacking in post game is understandable.
XY felt like it was last game they actually cared about, I wish it got delayed it probably could have been near perfection at the least.
XY also had the best Chibi models, they're cuter than LGPE and BDSP.
EXP was a toggle, made it fun for challange runs I did.
Also the Online for XY is still best it has ever been, I have no idea why they changed the PSS
SM removed both Triple and rotation battles because they were less optimized, and the nat dex was removed, truly the begining of the end.
