A consistent aspect of starter lines is their middle stages have an “awkward teenager” quality to them.
With that in mind, the Lotad and Seedot lines fit really well.

kind of strange how we haven't had a more generic plant starter, they've all been some sort of animal.
In fact, every starter has been an animal, I get it's a winning formula, but it'd certainly be interesting to see something else.

I think two stage lines could work but the final evo has to be rare or special in some way, like how you can reasonably see someone have a Riolu as their starter. That being said, not many are even close to Riolu/Lucario level. Preferably animals too.
