Also, this reminds me of a weird story concept that I've had for a long time but have never been able to logically formulate because I want contradictory things. I somehow both want to do a bodyswap dramedy where Serena becomes Gen 1 Ash, traveling with Brock and Misty, and Ash has to live the Rhyhorn Racer life in Kalos, but I also wanted Serena to actually just be Serena, but in Ash's Gen 1 clothes and tasked with his journey and Pokémon and friends. The closest I got to making it work was just eliminating the Ash portion of the story, creating a world where Serena (who still acts like Serena and is fully aware of Ash) just wakes up in a world where she replaces Ash completely without bodyswapping but literally just taking his place, being the daughter of Delia and dressing like Ash and having a Pikachu, where she knows something is wrong but everyone else thinks everything's normal in this world. I never could think of an ending for this version of the concept (without it all just being a long dream or a coma or something cliche), so I never wrote it, though I do remember one change to Indigo League I had was Charizard obeying sooner, just because Serena's calmer, feminine touch melted Charizard's heart faster.
