Stouland and its first stage are passable; it's the middle evolution that doesn't make sense. They could have used that space to give us an American cryptid or something that better represented New York.

The same goes for the elemental monkeys. They could have just used a Baby Monkey that evolves similarly to Eevee and gained two more slots.
