I find trading card games really unique as far as how they work mechanically, and something I've observed is that in each one, in the early years, there's a lot more options for how you want to play.
At some point in each, in order to sell cards, they start adding retardedly unbalanced shit, and the entire ecosystem just collapses into a handful of constructions.
From what I've been able to see, every modern card game has no intermediate skill brackets. You're either playing playground tier games or overtuned meta shit.
I'm sure there's something I'm missing, but it just seems like there's no room in these games to be mediocre, which is a necessary step for anyone who is learning how to play.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm curious about this.
