Even LGPE, games in the same gen as the Alola games, immediately course corrected the sheer severity of those dex entries, with Gyarados being one of their first picks to point out "oh yeah, even Mega Gyarados, who goes on a monumental rampage of piss and fury that goes far beyond a normal Gyarados, can actually contain itself thanks to the strong bond it has with its trainer."
