>>58621539>>58621546There's a difference between "roadblocks you solve through your own actions" and "roadblocks that arbitrarily disappear once you clear an event flag".
The Saffron Guards are directly influenced by you bribing them with a drink, and it also serves to inform Kanto's urbanist shithole worldbuilding by showing how careless and corrupt its supposed protectors are, willing to let an 11 year old walk into a city that's currently overrun and being violently taken over by the yakuza.
The Snorlaxes are also directly influenced by your actions, because you wake them up with the PokeFlute you earned.
If Nu-Pokemon did these roadblocks, the guards would arbitrarily decide "ok you can go through now :)" because you did something completely unrelated in a completely unrelated city, and the Snorlaxes would arbitrarily decide "ok i'm awake and grumpy now :)" when you interact with them again because you did something completely unrelated in a completely unrelated area.
