they should make catching pokemon harder, honestly. not by flat lowering base catch rates, but like, add some kind of skill requirement to it. like, some species are easiest to catch at 50% hp, for some poisoning is better than putting to sleep, that kind of thing. that would be a single-player rpg mechanic though, so they won't implement it

The plan is always
>1st turn: Quick Ball
>Subsequent turns: Ultra Ball (if day or outside of shaded areas) or Dusk Ball (if night or inside shaded areas)
>After a certain amount of turns: Timer Ball
It's pretty decent

Don't sleep on net/dive/repeat, those all have a 3.5x like dusk. Ultra balls are almost always the worst option if there are other choices, balltism notwithstanding

Barely use Repeat since any time I take capturing Pokemon seriously it's for Pokedex completion and that is almost always no repeats but yeah I forgot that Net and Dive are pretty good too in their situations

nah I typically try to make the balls match aesthetically to the Pokemon. Dark and Ghost type Pokemon go into the Dark Ball, Water Pokemon in the Dive Ball, cutesy Pokemon in the Heal Ball, Bug into the Net Ball. Sometimes I will also make use of the Repeat and even Timer Ball if it fits color wise. Same goes naturally for the Quick Ball, etc.

Apricot Balls are saved for special occasions.

I wish there was a feature of being able to move Pokemon to different balls, and then they could just introduce balls that are PURELY for aesthetics. Like a ball that looks like a Pikachu and has a special effect when being thrown too...

...or straight up have a "ball workshop" where you can invent your own ball, paint it, attach accessories, stickers, create the VFX effect, etc.

Is a very wide year. If you are born around here i think your first pokemon should roughly be hgss or bw. Im considered a zoomer and I was born right in the latter year and the first game i remember playing is RS and FRLG.
