>>58637038I'm playing it right now for the first time since I skipped the previous console gen and just got a Switch 2, and I can't wrap my head around some people saying this was a step in right direction for the series
I don't care about "graphics" but the art department here is the fucking worst, not only are colors are all washed out but they also got rid of the distinctive Sugimori style in favor of what looks like a lame Pixar's copycat. The towns are the biggest disgrace though, there's nothing to do in them, it's all cardboard buildings and the same sandwich stores copypasted in every avenue, there's not cultural background to them, no enterable buildings, no landmark spots other than the gyms themselves which have all been sterilized of any distinctiveness. Even the routes have somehow become a different, emptier kind of lackluster than the previous 3D games, they're just wide open spaces with items scattered through them and that's about it, they don't have linking named locations anymore, you don't find non-trainer NPCs or houses through them anymore, they aren't culturally connected to adjacent towns anymore, it's all just a big ass wasteland
The only redeemable part is the dex, which has more than enough cool additions this time I guess, but even then it's bleak you can clearly tell the series is slowly pivoting to low detail designs that are meant to be easy to 3d model
The characters and story are no better than previous games by the way, I don't get the fuzz. This guy is fun though
>>58637903>Actually it gets better after you finish the main game and later pay for the DLCfuck off
