Honestly I'm tired of gimmicks
Why do we need more, why can't we just have a regular game without stuff trying to reinvent the wheel all the time.
The older stuff never did it till it tried to appeal to a newer audience, just like ygo with 5ds and forward.
Tera is the equivalent to links and I hate them both. Synchro and Mega at least had really interesting concepts and were done decently well for their time. Xyz and Z moves were okay too, but then pend and gigantamax came....just kind of underwhelming and stupid.

Because game freak fucked up by introducing megas. Megas are the antithesis of their design philosophy of making each region unique. But megas are also the most popular gimmick so after years if trying something theyre going back to it once and for all. I geniunely think gen 10 will have no battle gimmicks

pendulums are based though, pend summoning is fun for playmaking and having a special "new zone" in the face-up extra deck, as well as the interesting gy trickery. Konami just never did anything particularly cool with it because too many people complained about too many words, I guess. I still want a gy-centric pend deck, it would be really fun and MAYBE convince me to play ygo again.
