Most Pokemon movies are ass, the only ones that were even remotely passable are the Takeshi Shudo era ones, since he at least tried to put some level of depth to the movies he worked on, everything after he left are cookie cutter and aggressively safe to the point of being boring

The Lucario move after all of that is the only non-Takeshi Shudo created movie that had something, since they were willing to kill off the main character by the end
