Heatran will be completely fine. Not sure why there so much doompost over it. The only problem here is darkrai because its very hard to see it pivot into being a defensive bulky mon. However it does have some potential because it now cam use drain punch for recovery and potentially have its sleep gimmick fixed with a new ability

At least Mega Heatran’s stat-spread still allows it to do the job Heatran normally does in trapping shit, eating Special hits and dishing out damage in return. If it gets a strong ability (Earth Eater for instance), then even better. Even with the somewhat pointless Atk boost, that still gives Heavy Slam niche usage in killing Clef and Blissey quicker so it won’t be too reliant on Taunt for those matchups. For Darkrai though losing that much Speed is fucked unless it’s getting a disgusting ability to compensate, the Atk boost for it is cool though so opponents really feel Knock Off from it (and also meme sets with Swords Dance Drain Punch cause of course people are going to attempt those).

A better stat spread for M-Darkrai would have been 30 into both offences, 10 into both defenses and the remaining 20 into Speed. This way it can take advantage of Sucker Punch or any other decent physical moves in its moveset.

157/147/153 isn't a "mixed attacker", it's a fast Pokemon that excels at both. The bulk is made up for by the fact that its boosting moves (provided you use them don't just use it as an all out attacker) are Bulk Up and Calm Mind

Zeraora at least benefits from SpA being increased since Grass Knot is just about the best thing it has to fight Ground types, and Special Zeraora is a thing.

But yeah, Zeraora would be way better off with more bulk and speed, only having a little bit more Special Attack for Grass Knot and Rising Voltage.

They ironically made the worst possible layout for heatran. Put too much into attack while giving it fucking 175 sp.atk, so no matter what physical attack you use it's never out competing 175 sp.atk. If it had lower sp.atk the atk would've been nice but 175 is just too damn high to not use
77 was incredible for a speed tier people don't understand. It outspeeds all the other fatmons and with some investment it beats un-invested mid speed mons. At 67 it's too slow to do that now. Didn't gain any phys bulk to make up for it, just sp.def and offense

Not being able to be knocked off sounds neat but you have no recovery then unlike clefable who is able to. Unless it gets a good ability it's not really going to be used as your mega

Yes, however if Zeraora got 32 Spe instead, not only is it outspeeding Ninjask and slower variations of Deoxys-Speed, it also can outspeed Base 100 Scarfers. That’d be huge since it would outspeed Volcarona, Mega Charizard X, Chi-Yu, Mew and its clones, and even Mega Blaziken at +1.

Darkrai could be good if the ability does some stupid shit like making dark void never miss, to make up for the Smeargle incident

But ultimately it doesn't matter since as per usual only the 3 best megas among them all are ever worth considering

Only vs super sp.def. Heavy slam already beat flash cannon vs slowking before mega but nobody ran that. It's only does 10% more with the buffs in this extreme case
Max damage heavy slam loses to flash cannon on an even def/spdef target with zero investment. Any sp.atk investment off that 175 it spikes higher faster

Running heavy slam to catch spdef is a gimmick when those mons are weak to magma storm as is. The phys investment is a complete waste of stats. Only a better ability can save it or it's a downgrade to the original and a waste of your megastone

Not minmaxed enough, give -50 SPA +100ATK and +50 SPD, then make him Fighting for another STAB (doesn't even need any new moves for this option he already has Close Combat) then make a new ability that prevents priority attacks and deals one extra small hit after attacking so stashes and sturdy can't stop him

No. It’d be way better. Enough speed speed to outspeed even faster Choice Scarfers and defenses that mean you don’t fold instantly to a light breeze.
