>>58650693From an objective standpoint, all gimmicks after megas are great for the sole reason that they allow every single mon to use the gimmick. That's the the main negative with megas. However, there are problems here and there such as gmax being completely broken and awful for singles.
People have to understand that this is gamefreak's problem ever since they created megas. They know that megas are popular specifically because they give pokemon new, forms, stats, abilities etc... but they cannot give megas to every pokemon in the series because they don't want to keep using that gimmick for new regions. Gmax hits that perfect sweetspot where some mons get a unique form but every pokemon is able to GET BIG. Gen 8 VCG was genuinely fun because of all the different pokemon that were able to excel with max forms and some teams could really surprise you with who they maxed. What they should've done with megas and just a generic boost where some mons simply got a +20 to all stats (a la pyroar) but with no ability change or type change or form change. That would've balanced out megas a lot
