SwSh had a WAY more retarded "solution" for this, which was limiting your access to the Wild Area depending on gym badges and that dogshit mechanic of "if your current lead mon is lower level than the wild mon, your catchrate is nerfed into oblivion". Now THAT was fucking stupid, holy fuck.
