>>58665724Well people probably boycotted alright, Nintendo was forced to allow refunds for online purchase of the game.
let's take a moment to let this sink
NINTENDO
fucking NINTENDO
allowed REFUNDS
ONLINE!
FOR POKéMON
That would have be a win and could have been it for the fucking franchise. forcing GF to serve Ohmori's head on a tray to Nintendo Heads to calm their fury.
Too bad that all this commotion caused people that dropped pokèmon 20 years prior to say "ehy why are they insulting this multi billionare company? I liked their games 20 years ago! I need to support them since clearly the multi billionare company is struggling for money, thus I'll buy the game! scratch that! let's make both copies of the game! I'm an adult now I've got a job so I can pay for both and help support the multi billionare company that made the games I liked 20 years ago"
The pandemic helped with this, since most people were just bored in their houses scrolling on tiktok and seeing everyone playing the new pokèmon game and went "oh shit a new pokèmon? It's been 20 years since last time I played one but now I am an adult, I've got money and am bored plus my favourite youtuber is playing it right now to farm money, clips and easy views, I'm going to go buy it myself too so I can drop it after 7 hours but say I'm still a hardcore pokèmon fan since this seems to be cool now"
And that's what the community is up to now.
I dare to say there has been a generational change for swsh specifically bringing in new users and old users.
People who were playing up to USUM, may have really boycotted the game but this new influx started the 2° coming of the pokèmon mania, Pokémon was never this popular since 1997
