>>58677339I like Gen I because I feel the aesthetic is closer to what Pokémon was envisioned as than FRLG or LGPE. FRLG Red's pink jacket and cyan jeans and faded colors just don't look that good, and LGPE is too bright and cute and like the anime.
I also like Gen I because it's nice to play a Pokémon game with the fewest amount of things to worry about. No shinies, no genders or gender differences, no breeding, no natures, no friendship, no ball on the title screen, no "proud of its power", no fancy icons, no Pokérus, etc. I just wish DVs weren't present and stat experience could be gained in a less tedious way.
It's a perfectly playable game for Pokémon if you just want to keep things simple, and it captures a lot of what made people fall in love with the series even if a lot of individual elements are done better in later games.
