Scavenging is the secret OP strat in ZA. Offenses are nerfed, so oneshots are very rare. Have a team bulky enough to take two hits from most things each, with a really good shotgun move (earthquake is the gold standard, but anything that comes out fast is good), wait for two people to start fighting, then pick one or both of them off after they get low. Then get the fuck out, do not engage in an actual 1v1 fight, unless you have a ridiculous advantage. Hunt for pickups, stay out of the mess, look for more people actually trying to play the game, and ruin their fun.
Bring moves that buttfuck specific popular pokemon, even if it's kinda weird.
Special mention to Mega Aggron, which is damn near unkillable, that is good to have in the back pocket if you just need to throw something out to not die for a few seconds I like full HP and spdef investment, Iron Defense, Protect, EQ, Heavy Slam, but the world's your oyster.
It's cancer. It's unfun to pilot. But goddamn does it work.
