>>58692459Eh, never been into pokemon for the cinema. But if I had to pick some.
Gen 1 gym battles. The Gym Leader music fills me with blood pumping energy, and the special victory music that plays feels like it cuts through the intensity of the battle so well. Probably just pure nostalgia but damn does it feel good.
Meanwhile, Galar's gyms were also hype as hell. The grandeur of a massive stadium filled with cheering crowds, the sheer presentation of meeting the gym leader in the middle before the music goes to full 100 as they strike their pose to begin the battle. The music swap up with the crowd singing during the climax of the battle as your pokemon both grow to giant size to duke it out. Even if I just one shot them it was still hype as hell. Every gym leader battle in 9 felt like a kick in the balls in comparison when that lame ass singing starts, just reminding me what these battles weren't. They should have focused on doing its own thing instead of trying to emulate gen 8.
As for actual cinema, the robo professor battle was pretty awesome. Pokemon (and anything really) has the best fights when there is narrative weight behind them. Champion Blue and finally putting your game long rivalry to rest. Red on Mt Silver, with no dialogue, carries huge weight from what the fight means to the player. I felt that during the Turo battle because I cared about the characters.
