>>58702500Look at Disney. Some people say the franchise is dying, swayed by flops or poorly received movies like Lightyear or the Little Mermaid live-action, but every now and then they release a Frozen or Zotopia that reminds everyone what Disney really is. And the studio has been around since the 1920s.
As for Pokémon, no matter what crap they're releasing now, it's a big part of many people's childhoods.
For a while, I didn't give a damn about anything related to Pokémon and swore it was in slow decline. Now that I'm back, I find out that Sword & Shield is one of the best-selling games in the franchise. That means that in a couple of years, there will be hundreds of people feeling nostalgic for Galar.
With this, I don't mean to say that there's no chance the franchise or the video games will die soon. During Pokémania, the ashnime was the main focus, especially in the West, and nowadays, it's the least appealing aspect of Pokémon. It was the first thing to flop. Not the TCG, not the games, but the anime. That proves nothing is guaranteed.
If SwSh and SV had flopped, I'd say the Pokémon games are likely to die within the next 10 years (the merchandise would last longer), but the opposite happened, so the franchise is healthy for now.
