>>58704825>removes vast amounts of postgame content that existed in HGSSIt's probably the best first version post-game, which unfortunately is not a high bar when shit like DP and SM are some of the closest competitors simply by having things to do
>makes all the sprites look drastically worseMost of them are copy-pasted from other games, and have larger back sprites, so I guess if you didn't like that sure
>removes all the explorationThere's usually some optional area to visit at every stage of the game, unless you mean non-linearity which is one of the very few problems with HGSS and a decently big problem in Gen 1 (RS mostly does away with non-linearity in exchange for many optional areas and is a much better game for it until the borderline experimental endgame which was probably the best place to put it if they wanted that).
>remove the tiny amount of difficulty that was still left There's one or two bosses in the main game that will catch you out and the final boss is pretty hard, that's about standard for Pokemon. This isn't even getting into the post-game fights which are reasonably difficult and unlike most first versions actually exist.
HGSS is still better overall, but as a remake of a game with a particular vision that not only furthers that vision but adds on to it with tons of extra fun content that's understandable, and the fact that BW is even in the conversation despite being a first version is worthy of recognition I think. Like, what other first version has any sort of competition, SM? USUM is better in every way unless you're a pedophile.
