Lance is a theme specialist, not a type specialist
His rematch team in HGSS, his PWT team, his LGPE team and I think some of his other teams use mons that aren't Flying type
It's like how Steven isn't necessarily a Steel specialist, he's got a variety of earthen Pokemon

Someone with at least half a functioning brain would have checked what pterosaur is in Japanese before saying this (dinosaur = 恐竜, fearsome dragon; pterosaur = 翼竜, winged dragon)
