It's not Kanto pandering for once, it's just that there are many top tier speedster pokemon with 150 speed so by adding one single extra point you ensure Pheromosa and the Z megas outspeed them, then Zeraora does pretty much the same to be even faster. The thing with speed is that one single point can make a massive difference

Nah you are confusing Z megas quirks. The mega gauge consumption is balanced by shortening the input time for moves to be executed, which works separatedly from the speed stat. Champions doesn't have input delay from using moves or mega gauge so these megas stay "balanced" just by implementing them normally, they lose both the positive and the negative trait Z megas have.
You are gonna get Zcario, Zsol and Zchomp the whole match and you will like it.
