Lucario was used way back to represent Gen 4's physical/special split showcasing a Fighting-type with higher SpAtk. In reality it was always a better physical attacker though, so this Mega basically taps into Lucario's roots.

I fucking hate the head blue bit. A regular looking Pokemon and then the just dumped some weird long bit on its head and it just left it there. Its not even attached to the body its just a giant annoyance sitting on its head.

Me. It's a huge improvement over Lucario's design, even more so over its other Mega. It's seriously one of my least favourite Megas.
