Are shinies in ZA a mistake?

>Just spam click a bench reloading zones between day and night
>Or just hold up to continue reloading zones back and forth
>Come back after an hour of afking like that
>Shinies don't despawn
>Just run around and scoop them all up effortlessly
They really should despawn, this has to be one of the most degenerate and boring ways possible. Do people really enjoy this?

It's an unintentional mechanic. They wanted to avoid people having shinies pop out of existence, so they made them not despawn, but they underestimated the willingness of people to exploit that fact

The way I'd personally address it would be to have the despawn conditions for shinies be a little more lenient, but if a shiny does despawn, the game tracks that, and slightly increases the spawn rates of shinies to give another shot

Then you'd just have another cheese strat where people are deliberately skipping trash shinies from areas that are extremely easy to refresh until the odds completely overdose, making it braindead easy to hunt for shalphas, shiny XS, and other desirable shinies.

Honestly its fine.
Shinies only have value when you find them unexpectedly.
Grinding for a shiny is just flipping a coin over and over until you get what you want.

Some people just enjoy the grind and the reward of finding something that’s rare at the end.
I imagine a lot of people who like sandbox and roguelike games would like shiny hunting.

If you bring a non-alpha non-shiny Metagross to ZA online, you will be targeted by everyone else. That's just the rule. It's the entry requirement to not be the laughing stock.
You will get hunted down for that.

It's even worse now. The game has a backup save function in order to let you resolve soft-locks. Shiny hackers are now exploiting this in combination with the new DLC dimensions in order to hack any shiny they want into the game.
The last true bastion of true shiny hunting were XS-sized shinies and even those are being hacked into the game by the dozens now.
If gamefreak has any integrity, they should not allow any shines from ZA onto Pokemon Home. They are essentially all hacked.

Nothing has changed, there's just a safety net because of how insanely easy it is TO lose a shiny in this game.

It works in the DLC portals too. You just exit and re-enter. It even cheeses the timer there since they're timegated once you enter, but if you exit and reload it doesn't use much of the allocated time

The DLC dimensions are designed so that you can only enter each once and can't reset in them. You have to use the hidden special anti-softlock function to overwrite your save with a previous one to dodge these anti-exploit measures and make the Donuts that do exactly what you want in combinations with the exact Spawn locations that you want in order to abuse the established macro fast travel glitching.
