Looks like they finally stopped the "we need the colours to be 100% accurate to the Sugimori watercolour artwork" after 12 years.

Gen 5 is actually the darkest green Sceptile had ever been, it was actually a slightly less saturated slightly more yellowish shade of green before then. Gen 6+ base textures were way lighter though, ZA barely gets close to how it was in the older titles.

Everything in ZA is neon colored. I presume it's due to the idea of most of the game taking place at night (even though that's not really what we got), but it does make certain pokemon look kind of weird.

They couldn't be assed to make the models work with the lighting engine so they took the lazy way out. Older games would also employ this technique but they had to do it well as it was a matter of technical limitations and not abject laziness

I just want gen 10 to look at least a little better. The dated landscapes in SV didn't really phase me, but ZA is just an ugly game visually. At least on the switch 2, it looks worse than SV across the board. About on the level of an ambitious Wii game.
