It all started when Darkrai starred in a Dialga/Palkia canon movie, having many cool fight scenes all while Cresselia was absent.

She only got one Sinnoh episode and that was also shared with Darkrai too.

Funnily enough Darkrai end up jobbing in that episode. Its funny, the movie and spinoff portrayals would make you believe Darkrai has some connection to the creation trio and Arceus but in the games it has no significance beyond getting bullied by Cresselia
